Princess Cupcakes

Day One:  See the cutest cupcakes with handmade white chocolate tiaras on Pinterest and decide you have to make them for The Girl's birthday.

Day Two:  Gather up all your gear and spend a solid two hours making enough tiaras to decorate the tops of  birthday cupcakes and a birthday cake for the following weekend.

Day Three:  Put The Girl down for a nap and haul out all the cupcake stuff to get them ready for later that night.  Get a couple practice ones done and fill up your icing bag with more frosting. Set the spatula down and knock the tray of tiaras on the floor.  Look down and see a kagillion fragments of white chocolate splayed out all over the kitchen floor.  Try not to cry.  Curse yourself.  Get your camera and take pictures, because that's what bloggers do.  Clean up the mess.  Call your mom to whine about your idiotic, klutzy move.  Put sprinkles on the rest of the cupcakes.

You just can't make this shit up.

Here are The Girl's princess birthday cupcakes, minus a couple dozen tiaras:

I used a boxed white cake mix and stirred in a cup or so of fresh raspberries.
I made cream cheese frosting and colored it blush pink.
Pink cupcake wrappers.
Pink and white pearl sprinkles.

Here's a fragment of the disaster:

And here's the birthday girl:

I took these earlier in the day.
Her brother had just "accidentally" stomped on her toe.

Isn't she pretty?  :o)
We're off to party like princesses this weekend.
I'll be back next week.

  1. Awwww,...she looks so pretty! Love the transition from the crying sore toe, to the "I'm a princess and I know it". Total bummer about the tiaras but the pearl sprinkles are really nice.

  2. The cupcakes are BEAUTIFUL! I like the crowns and the sprinkles (wink!). A birthday is not complete without a little cry...it's her birthday and she can cry if she wants to, cry if she wants to, etc. etc. :)

  3. Your daughter is just darling, and that bracelet looks like something fit for a princess! The cupcakes are beautiful--I love them both with tiaras and with sprinkles. I'm so sorry to hear that the pan dropped off the counter--I likely would have been too mad to take pictures, so you were much more composed :) Glad to hear that you like Rachael Ray recipes and the potato recipe. I love her early books, and her later ones less so, I think because she used a lot more of her own family recipes in the early ones, and to me those are the best from her. She has a book called Comfort Food that I liked a lot--think it might have been her first cookbook. Take care, and have a fun weekend!

  4. Bless your heart, I would have had the same response if I'd dropped the tiaras which sounds just like something I would do. BUT...the pearl sprinkles look so nice it's like you did it on purpose. And that sweet girl is awful precious, sad face or not. :)

  5. They are just precious!! I am so sorry about the accident. I totally would have cried. And been inconsolable for about 24 hours. Not a joke. ;)

Little Emma. She is just so precious. I absolutely love her dress!
